Mercy Parish/Congregational Nurse and Health Ministry
staff is available to help you with your program in a
variety of ways. By working together to build a network
of resources, we can grow in service to our Lord. Listed
below are a variety of resources that may be borrowed
from our Resource Center. Be sure to check under “Events
and New Resources” regularly to learn about any new

EQUIPMENT:
ROLOTAPE wheel can be borrowed to help you
accurately set up a walking route. We have books and
program materials on walking that could be used to help
you set up your program. Why not walk the same number of
miles that it would take to get to Jerusalem or
Bethlehem this year?
SCALE AND STADIOMETER can be used to weigh and
measure clients for a health fair or walking program.
PROGRAMS TO BE BORROWED OR PURCHASED:

- BP BOX contains everything that is
needed to conduct a blood pressure screening
at your organization. BP Box includes
reproducible easy-to-read materials on
subjects relating to the heart as well as
materials to help conduct your screening. The
new HIPPA rules are addressed.
- BETHANY MINISTY Self-study Module
Kit is an organized program to aid the
parish/congregation in its role of responding
to the wholistic needs of its people.
Listening and communication skills are taught.
The Kit includes a CD Self-Study Module and a
2 hour video that provides helpful information
and guidance through the self-study reference
material in the 100 - page manual. This would
be a great way to get your volunteer health
ministry team ready to serve others.
- DIABETES BOX is a collection of
resources including easy-to-read educational
materials to help the new and long time
diabetic better understand their disease and
how to manage it. Posters, forms and other
reproducible items will help your organization
prepare for a screening and future educational
activities and monitoring.
- ELIZABETH MINISTRY is a program
that reaches out to help women and their
families to truly celebrate the gift of each
child conceived and born and fully mourn each
miscarriage, abortion, stillbirth and infant
or child death. Elizabeth Ministry’s mission
is to cherish children, encourage families and
build community. It offers peer support,
mentoring, spiritual nourishment, as well as
educational and inspirational resources.
- FIT AND BE FREE is a medically
monitored, individualized, progressive
exercise and health education program. This
program requires a professional exercise
trainer and does require a participant charge.
This program can be reviewed at the Parish
Nurse Office, but the individual member
material will need to be ordered from the
company.
- GRIEF BOX is a collection of
resource material that addresses the dying and
death process. Resources for local respite
care, hospice care, and bereavement groups are
arranged in easy-to-find file folders.
Religion and death, AIDS and SIDS, daily care,
physical changes, prayers and poems are part
of the topics covered.
- HEALTH BAG is a program that will
improve the body, mind and spirit of the
homebound as well as the volunteers that work
with them. Volunteers are trained to work with
the homebound person using up-beat music,
exercises, relaxation tapes, prayer and
conversation. The manual includes reproducible
items, suggestions and resources to make this
a winning program.
- HEALTH MINISTRY BOX for The
African-American Church offers a wide
variety of topics on diseases and conditions
that are commonly found in the
African-American community. It includes tips
on weight loss, smoking cessation, nutrition
and healthy cooking as well as resources for
more information.
- PREPARE TO SERVE Bible series
offers Bible studies with five 60 minute
sessions in each. Topics include: Prepare to
Care, Prepare to Encourage, Prepare to Change,
Prepare to Lead, Prepare to Comfort and
Prepare to Reconcile. Each box comes with
video and reproducible materials.
- ROSE BUD is a collection of ideas
and resources to get your organization started
with a supportive program for mothers as they
begin their journey through motherhood. The
target of this program is new moms and those
with preschoolers. It encourages a support
system and bonding of mothers.
- SAFE AT HOME AND ON THE ROAD WITH
ALLSTATE includes many safety items on the
market today to help keep our children safe.
This would make a good presentation at a young
mothers or grandparents group.
- “WALK TO JERUSALEM” AND WALK TO
BETHLEHEM” is a collection of ideas to
help you present a walking program with a
goal.
- “WALKING IN THE WAY:A WALKING PROGRAM
FOR WHOLEPERSON
HEALTH” includes a guide for personal or
group options.
- WOMAN TO WOMAN BOX offers program
suggestions to address the needs of the middle
age and older woman.
