Operation Safefy Net®

Operation Safefy Net® provides free health care to individuals who are unsheltered and homeless, and helps transition them into housing.

  • $35 purchases a sleeping bag for an individual who is homeless and living on the street.
  • $100 purchases food for a homeless individual transitioning off the street.
  • $500 provides vital case management for a homeless individual transitioning off the street.
  • Donation to the program to support programs for homeless individuals.
A Child's Place at Mercy

A Child's Place at Mercy programs assess and treat children who have been abused and neglected and provide vital community outreach programs to better identify, report and ultimately end the victimization of children.

  • $25 provides a DVD to 25 caregivers to prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome, which has dramatically increased in Allegheny County.
  • $100 covers the cost of a physical examination for a child.
  • $250 purchases socks, gloves and hats for 25 children brought to A Child’s Place in an emergency situation.
  • $1,000 provides child abuse education to local parent-teacher organizations, law enforcement, and community groups.
  • Donation to the program to support abused and neglected children in your community.
Mercy Parish Nurse and Health Ministry Program

The Mercy Parish Nurse and Health Ministry Program educates and supports nurses who coordinate health ministries in their churches. These volunteer parish nurses help individuals to access needed medical and social services, cope with chronic illness, and adopt healthy lifestyle habits.

  • $100 provides training and resource materials for parish nurses.
  • $250 supports the education of parish nurses and health ministers in churches in underserved communities.
  • Donation to the program to support programs for underserved elderly and homebound.
Mercy Behavioral Health

Mercy Behavioral Health (MBH) supports individuals with mental retardation, mental illness, and alcohol, tobacco and other drug addictions. We also provide prevention and education programs for children, adolescents and adults.

  • $50 can cover a person’s medication co-payments for one month.
  • $75-100 pays for a bus pass for one individual’s transportation to/from work during the first month of employment.
  • $130 provides one day at a therapeutic summer camp for one child aged seven to 11 years old. $1,500 will send one child to camp for the entire summer.
  • $150 sponsors one elementary school student in Dancing Classrooms Pittsburgh, a prevention program designed to create healthy relationships and build self-esteem. $3,500 will sponsor an entire class of fifth-graders.
  • $150 purchases flowers, seeds, vegetables and plants for gardening activities by consumers in community-based gardens.
  • $150 provides pre-paid phones for consumers to utilize when they are initially referred to a Community Treatment Team and don’t have service.
  • $250 supports local outings that help people improve their community awareness and social skills.
  • $250 funds a nutrition group promoting healthy lifestyles.
  • $250 provides a reading room or library for consumers in a supportive housing program.
  • $300 pays for one month’s rent at Fairweather Lodge, a permanent housing option that also includes community employment opportunities for people with mental illness.
  • $500 provides an annual arts and crafts program for individuals with mental retardation or one for residents of a personal care home.
  • $500 funds a music therapy exercise group or a poetry group for people in recovery.
