Mercy Behavioral Health

Welcome

The simplest and most practical lesson I know…is to resolve to be good today, but better tomorrow…short careful steps, not great strides. Catherine McAuley, 1778-1841, founder of the Sisters of Mercy

Mercy Behavioral Health (MBH) provides a full continuum of recovery-oriented, community-based mental health, mental retardation, and drug/alcohol treatment and prevention services.

Established in 1969, Mercy Behavioral Health strives to empower people to overcome barriers and to lead healthy and successful lives in the community. We serve children, adolescents, adults, families, and senior citizens in nearly 60 neighborhoods throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Our staff includes caseworkers, counselors, clinicians, school-based therapists, crisis specialists, nurses, and board-certified physicians. Mercy Behavioral Health employees are also trained to meet the unique needs of people with more than one diagnosis (such as mental illness and addiction, or mental retardation and mental illness).

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and Department of Health license Mercy Behavioral Health. We are funded and monitored by Allegheny County. In addition, selected programs have been accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
