Application Procedures
Major Grants
General Information Session: McAuley Ministries will provide potential grantees with an overview of the organization's mission, values, vision, grantmaking priorities, grantmaking process and timeframes. Attendance is required. The session date will be announced through direct mail and on this website.
Letter of Inquiry: Potential grantees may submit a Letter of Inquiry, no more than three pages, outlining their proposed programs/project. Letters of Inquiry may be submitted at any time, however letters are reviewed annually in March by the Board. The deadline for submission of a letter of inquiry will be posted online. Applicants are also welcome to call the office to discuss a proposal idea before beginning the formal process. After review by the McAuley Ministries Board, applicants will be informed if they are invited to submit a full application. If you are invited to submit a full application, the Executive Director will contact you to discuss the scope and specifications of your request and outline timelines with you.

Full Applications: McAuley Ministries accepts the Grantmakers of Western Pennsylvania Common Grant Application format. Applicants are asked to submit the McAuley Ministries Cover Page. Funding decisions will be made in July.

- The major grant letter of inquiry consists of the required cover page and no more than three (3) additional typed pages, responding to the questions listed below. Please submit the letter of inquiry electronically, preferably in a MS WORD document. The document must have a minimum of 1-inch margins with a 12-point font. The narrative pages may be single spaced.

- McAuley Ministries accepts the Grantmakers of Western Pennsylvania Common Grant Application format. Please attach and sign the McAuley Ministries cover page included in this application packet.
- GWPA Common Grant Application »
- Grantmakers of Western Pennsylvania created the Common Grant Application Format in 1996 to simplify the process of requesting and making grants. It is designed to benefit both grantseekers and foundation and corporate decision-makers who review grant proposals. It is not a form to be filled in. It is a format to be used as an outline for organizing and writing proposals.
Outreach Grants
General Information Session: McAuley Ministries will provide potential grantees with an overview of the organization's mission, values, vision, grantmaking priorities, grantmaking process and timeframes. Attendance is optional.
Application: Potential grantees may submit an application, outlining their proposed programs/project. The application for an Outreach Grant consists of the required cover page and no more than five (5) additional typed pages,. Outreach proposals may be submitted at any time. Applicants are also welcome to call the office to discuss a proposal idea before beginning the formal process. Proposals are reviewed on a monthly basis.

Funding decisions will be made in three funding cycles— March, July, and October:

Legacy Grants
Organizations sponsored by or affiliated with the Sisters of Mercy may submit the Outreach Grant application. Depending on the size and scope of the proposal, applicants may be asked to submit a proposal using the Grantmakers of Western Pennsylvania Common Grant Application format.
