UPMC Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh offers a
Council on Podiatric Medical Education (“CPME”) approved PM&S-36 program for
graduates of podiatric medical schools. The program is designed as a 36-month
block rotation schedule with emphasis in the first year on the medical
specialties, general surgery, and podiatric medicine and surgery. There is
excellent in-patient training and hospital based out-patient clinics. The
resident will be expected to integrate into the overall program with residents
of other medical specialties. Residents will be taught by podiatric and
medical physicians to create a well-rounded podiatric physician.
The podiatry residency is one of the several accredited programs offered by
The Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. The hospital sponsors accredited residency
programs in anesthesiology, radiology, family medicine, internal medicine,
general surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and transitional year
residency. In addition, Mercy Hospital sponsors an osteopathic internship.

in Emergency medicine and participates in other training programs.
